The Glory of God

The Glory of God

In the world of sports, Scottie Scheffler is today’s big name after winning his second Masters Golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia and walking home with a winning purse of $3.6 million dollars.

If you’ve ever seen the Masters tournament you have to appreciate the beauty and the grandeur of this gorgeous golf course.  That alone is worth watching.  But what struck me the most was not so much the golfer’s play… outside the fact that they can three putt and put balls in the water just like I can… but it was the interview with the press that Scottie had after his win.

In the interview, he mentions his wife as his support and their new baby on the way and the close friends that are important to him.  Shortly into the (25 minute) interview, one reporter asked about his faith.  Here is his response.

“I believe that today’s plans were already laid out many years ago and I can do nothing to mess it up.  I’ve been given a gift for this talent (golf) and I am going to use it for the glory of God.”  He later added that he was very competitive and was not going to apologize for it and then said…“At the end of the day my identity (in the Lord) is secure!”

The apostle Paul writes this note of encouragement in Colossians 3:17-23 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

No matter who you are, where you are, what your talent is, what your skill sets are, what your net worth or under worth is…. God uses you where you are for His glory and not ours!  Give God the glory!

For our glory will be in the Kingdom of God with Him.
